Welcome back to the NSG Indie Game Roundup, our monthly series featuring indie games news, plus game demo and new release discussions.
Our second installment of Indie Game Roundup was a whirlwind and so was the month of June! This month we're discussing Steam Next Fest, which took place from June 10-17 and featured over 1800 game demos. Next Fest is one of our favorite events of the year and we covered a lot of ground, playing a total of over 50 demos between us. We're excited to share our highlights and favorite demos from the event!

What really happened at the Crow Country amusement park two years ago? Special Agent Mara Forest is on the case.We're kicking off our Scary Summer season with a review of Crow Country from SFB Games, which released earlier this year. You play as Mara, who has just arrived to investigate a missing person's case at the abandoned amusement park. The further you get into the park, the more the plot thickens, and the owner Edward Crow remains out of reach. Crow Country is styled after iconic retro horror titles like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and packs in equal amounts of scares and lore.Join Kate and Emily for episode 26 of No Small Games for their Crow Country review and plot recap. The two chat about their experience of this particular genre of horror, their impressions of the puzzles, and thoughts on gameplay. Henry took a summer job in the wilderness to get away from his life, but he could never have guessed what he was getting himself into...Firewatch, developed by Campo Santo, is a first-person mystery game where you play a brand new fire lookout in the wilds of Wyoming. Our main character, Henry, has left behind the rubble of his old life to pursue the solitude of the forests. His only lifeline is his boss Delilah, who he can communicate with exclusively via walkie-talkie. While he searches for himself, Henry and Delilah uncover much more than they ever expected, hidden in Shoshone National Forest. In Episode 24 of No Small Games, special guest Jules (known online as ShinobiJules) joins Kate and Emily to review the game Firewatch. You'll hear their takes on (and gripes with) the two main characters, their thoughts on game mechanics, and experiences navigating the (in-game) wilderness.
